House Project - Front Yard

We decided we wanted to change the appearance of our house a little so over the last two weekends, Brian has been hard at work in our front yard. We have two Japanese Maple trees that adorn our yard. The area around the trees were starting to look a little sluggish so we decided it was time to spruce them up a bit.
Here is what the base looked like beforeBrian starting on the first tree...We purchased these pavers from our favorite store, Lowe's and got to work. It took Brian less than 2 hours to complete one tree. We are thrilled with the outcome...My mom and I plan to plant bulbs in the fall so next spring, the trees will be even more beautiful at the base. And this is what our little abode looks like from the street now...If you look to the far left of the picture, you mist just spot our raised garden. Can't wait to tell you about that in the next post! I am so thankful I have such a handy man for a husband!

Welcome to the world Eli!!!

If you recall this post, last April Brian and I walked in the Charlotte March for Babies walk to benefit March of Dimes in loving memory of Ryan and Dillon Glisan, who were born prematurely and in support of my cousin Kelli and Tim.

It is with such joy that we welcome into the world Elijah (Eli) Bernard Glisan. Eli was born on April 10, 7lbs 11oz. 21.5 inches long and Kelli and Tim are such wonderful parents. Elijah means "The Lord is My God". Bernard is a Glisan family name which means strong, brave bear.

What a true blessing Eli is to Kelli and Tim. We know they will speak often of Ryan and Dillon to Eli. We love you all and can't wait to meet Eli.

Baby M

Ever since I became pregnant, Brian would always refer to Baby M as "he". He said it was just natural to call our baby a he. I didn't have the "instinct" as to whether we were having a girl or boy. A lot of our friends and family thought Baby M was a boy, we only have 2 or 3 think Baby M was a girl.

On Wednesday, we knew for certain which we were having...

IT'S A BOY!!!!

He was kicking up a storm and everything looked great. His little head is tucked into my pelvis so we couldn't get a good look at his head and brain so I go back to the 5th of May for another ultrasound! I can't wait to see him again!!! He is around 10 ounces right now, which is 1.5 ounces ahead of schedule. My doctor said it was only a matter of time before he starts to really grow length-wise, considering Brian and I are both tall (6'4 and 5'9 respectively).

Probably my favorite picture from our appointment is this one...Brought tears to my eyes. How cute are those little feet and toes?!

And if you know Brian, you know he wears a tie everyday to work. Well on Wednesday he decided he wouldn't wear a tie in the morning and then after our appointment, he would put on either a pink or a blue tie, depending on Baby M! His co-workers loved it!!!

Before our appointment
After our appointment

Check out that smile on his face.. that's one proud daddy-to-be!
Baby M is certainly going to be a ladies man, considering all my friends have girls!!! But sorry ladies... Baby M is already taken. Baby G (Jen's baby girl who will arrive in July) has already claimed him. :-)
We love you, Baby M!!!

2010 National Champs!!!

There is no denying that I am a true Duke Blue Devil fan. My parents are fan, I grew up a fan. It's in my blood. Since marrying Brian, I have also become a Volunteers fan (Go UT!) but my heart will always bleed duke blue! So I couldn't be more proud of them as they brought the championship home last night!!!! I know there are a lot of haters out there but that's okay. These boys are honorable, respectable, student athletes. One of the many things I love about Duke is that student comes before athlete. Coach K is a remarkable coach that keeps producing quality teams year after year. So.. here's to you Duke!!!! CONGRATS!!!! Thanks for a memorable season!

And congrats to Butler who played one hell of a game! What an inspiring team!

"Wonky" Weekend

Two weekends ago, we traveled to Jacksonville to visit one of my best friends, Jennifer. Since Jason (Jen's hubby) is currently deployed, Brian is her stand in "second husband". She greeted us with a long "honey-do" list for Brian, which he was very happy about. Yeah he likes to do manual labor. Crazy huh?

We arrived late Friday and stayed up to chat and catch up. On Saturday, we were early to rise as the list was waiting and headed off to Brian's favorite store, Lowes, to get all the supplies for his projects. After an hour we headed home with 2 SUV's full of soil, lumber, etc. for a raised garden bed and a flower bed. After we unloaded (well Brian really unloaded everything - 2 preggers chicks can't carry much!), we left Brian to his own devices and headed to out to do more "fun stuff" aka Babies R' Us and Target, to pick up a crib and mattress!!! Two hours later, we returned to a completed raised garden bed and flower bed... The boy works quick. Let's just say, I "supervised" the rest of the day, with the exception of hanging a bird feeder. See, I can do manual labor :-)

The lovely bird feeder... my contribution to the manual labor

Brian managed to build a raised garden bed, a flower bed, fill them both in with more soil than you can ever imagine, plane a door and put together Baby Goodale's crib... all before dinner time.

Jen and B putting the crib together... in 15 mins! I supervised!
Deacon helping me supervise!

Tommy making sure no one touched his treat!

After everything was complete, we relaxed and watched some of the NCAA tournament and had a wonderful dinner that Jennifer prepared for us. She is such a wonderful host! We crashed around 11pm and woke up Sunday to help Jennifer celebrate her birthday, prior to hitting the road back to Winston later than afternoon.

We had a wonderful visit and Brian was really happy to play "second husband". I was happy to just spend time with my best friend!

Jennifer... 22 weeks preggers!

Oh and if you are wondering about the title of the post.... "Wonky" was the word for the weekend, thanks to my wonderful husband!

Check out Jennifer's blog for more pictures from that weekend... No belly pictures of me will be found though!
